God's Commandments are Written on Stone

As shown in the above timeline, God's Moral Law, the Ten Commandments, has always existed because God has always existed and God does not change.

The 10 Commandments were again given, this time to Moses at Mount Sinai, and they were written by the hand of God onto two tables of stone.  These were written on stone to show that they are not changeable (the Ceremonial Law was written on scrolls or rolls of "paper").

It is also important to note that after the 10 Commandments were written down, both stone tablets (containing the Moral Law) were placed inside the Ark which was in the Most Holy Place in the Tabernacle (the scrolls containing the Ceremonial Law were placed in pockets that were outside the Ark).  Again, the point being made here is that God's Moral Law would not change, but that the Ceremonial Law (a law of ordinances) would someday end, be done away with.

Exodus 25:16 "And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee."

Exodus 25:21 "And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. "

This text from Hebrews tells us everything that was inside the Ark.

Hebrews 9:4 "Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein [was] the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;"

Colossians tells us what was nailed to the cross.  God's Moral Law is not "contrary to us" and it is not an "ordinance".

Colossians 2:14 "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; "
