Israel Outside Promised Land

After leaving Mt. Sinai there are a number of events that are recorded, among them are the following:

• The people complain again and God sends a fire.
• Moses tells God that he is not able to care for all the people alone.
• Moses is given 70 men to help.
• The people again complain about not having "flesh" to eat.  God sends enough quail to feed about 2,000,000 people for 1 month.
• Miriam complains about Moses and is given leprosy for 7 days.
• Moses sends 12 spies into Canaan.  All 12 tell how good the land is, but 10 say that it is stronger than the Israelites can take. 
• Israelites are told that they will spend 40 years in the wilderness, because they did not trust God to do what was needed.  (Numbers 11 thru 14:38)
