Instructions  (These are not your ordinary timelines, please read carefully.)

(If you already know how to use this site but you're just not sure where to start, begin here.)

As already stated, this is a series of Bible timelines that attempt to look at the overall picture as shown in the Bible.  Because these timelines were designed to help a person dig into why an event happened you will find very few dates on any of them.  Rather than try to pinpoint the exact "Time" something happened, these timelines are attempting to show "What" happened and "Why" it happened.

Each of these timelines are related in one way or another.  The graphic below only shows how 10 are related:

Many of the events on these timelines are hyperlinks to additional information.  In addition to the hyperlinks right on the timelines there may be underlined words in GREEN or RED in the text below each timeline.  A GREEN  link is one that has not been clicked on yet and a RED link is one that you have already clicked on, even if you clicked it on another page.   In other words, they will change color.  These links will bring up additional information about what you are reading.  Just use your mouse and click on a link to access this new information.  (A link that you have clicked on will only remain RED until your history record is either cleared automatically after so many days, or you manually clear your history.  Many browsers will only keep "History" for 30 days by default, but you have the option of changing this setting.)

Note:  Please be aware that you may find "links" that are not part of bibletimelines.org.  These links will usually have a double underline and will lead you to a site that is not affiliated with bibletimelines.org in any way.  If you find one, please ignore it.  These links are not part of the bibletimelines.org website.  (These links are usually caused by "Ad Ware" which is on your computer.  Ad Ware does not seem to harm a computer, but tries to get the computer user to view commercial web sites and make a purchase.)

Some of the timelines on this web site may take a little time to load, depending on your modem speed, but you should find that they are well worth the wait.  In addition to viewing online, most internet browsers allow you the option of viewing at least part of this website off line.  (Look up "synchronize" in your MS Internet Explorer help file for instructions.)

This whole website is divided into five categories as shown below

  1. The Bible History category contains historical events as related to the Gospel of Jesus.
  2. The Bible Prophecy category contains only specific Biblical prophecy timelines.  These timelines are from a specific book or chapter (i.e. Daniel 2) or are of a specific time length (such as the 1,260 day/year prophecy, even though it is found both in Daniel and in Revelation).
  3. The Bible Principles category contains timelines showing principles or teachings found in the Bible.
  4. The Non-Timeline Topics category looks at some tough questions and other topics that are difficult, or impossible, to show in a timeline.
  5. The new PowerPoint Presentations category is only a listing of available presentations.  (These presentations were created using the 2002 version of PowerPoint and so the transitions/effects you will actually see on your screen will depend on what you are using to display the presentation.  Just for your information, each transition should be smooth between slides.  There is not a copyright on any presentation, or timeline, on this site, so feel free to use them to bring honor to the Lord in whatever way you choose.  You may need to download the free PowerPoint Viewer from the Microsoft website in order to view these presentations.)

The three small graphics shown down toward the middle of the "Home Page" were created to direct you to a larger graphic that shows the relationship between timelines.  These larger graphics are also a graphical link to many of the timelines.  Clicking on one of these small timelines will display the full size timeline.  (Allow your mouse to hover over a small timeline to display the timeline's name, then click to display the full size timeline.)  The yellow "Table of Contents" at the left of the screen displays these timelines in a list format, plus a few more timelines that are not shown on the small graphics.

Most "timeline pages" will display a full size timeline at the top.  Just below that is a small version of the same timeline sized to fit most screens, and an area at the bottom of the screen for a summary of that timeline or area of the timeline. (If you cannot see the References and Text area at the bottom of the screen, try viewing at "Full Screen" first by using the function key - F11.  If that is not satisfactory you can try to resize the smallest timeline frame by placing your cursor over the line at the bottom of the frame until it changes into a double headed arrow, then click and drag up to make the frame smaller.  Also, be sure your screen's resolution is set at least to 1024 x 768.)

Most pages should look something like this:

Most, but not all, of the "Scrollable Full-Size" timelines have areas (buttons) in them that can be clicked for further information.  If your pointer changes from a "pointer" to a "hand", then you are over one of these "buttons".  After clicking a button with your mouse you should see additional information displayed in the "References and Text area" section.  Some of these buttons will even display additional timelines, or will bring up additional related information.

The "scroll bar" that is between the upper and lower timelines should roughly span the area you are viewing, like this:

If you should want to print a page that you are reading please keep in mind that most of the time you will end up printing the entire set of pages (i.e.  the yellow "Table of Contents", probably just a portion of the timeline and all of the text area).  Most of the time you will be printing several pages of material.  (There are a few places where there are "printer friendly" pages that can be printed without ending up with unwanted pages.  As an example, there are Posters that can be printed to put up in your church, apartment, or school to help share the Gospel with others.)

This site is best viewed at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels using Microsoft Internet Explorer.  If you haven't already done so, please take the time to read the "Purpose of these timelines"May the Lord bless your study and give you insight that cannot be shown on any computer screen or in any book.

Where Should I Start?

Where you should start actually depends on who you are and what you are here for.

If you are a Christian and want to see the "Big Picture":

If you are a Christian and need information on a specific topic:

If you are not a Christian and not sure if there is even a God:
