John 8:42 says, "Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me."
"How could a loving God give His only Son?" It appears that it has more to do with how we view, or understand, these two words, "gave" and "sent". The Bible tells us that Jesus chose to do this for us. He said, "Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life. . . ." John 10:17 Jesus Himself loved us as much as did the Father and so it was His choice to give His life for us. Because Jesus loved us also, the "sent" means that God did the "transporting" or the "recreating" of His Son into His human form instead of meaning that He "forced" Jesus to come and die.
"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give
his life as a ransom for many."
Mark 10:45
Jesus was not forced to come here and die. He did it because He loved
us.
