Jesus Second Coming (His Return)

(Also see the "Jesus Returns" Timeline.)

"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen."  Revelation 1:7

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God..."        1 Thessalonians 4:16

NOTE:  It is apparent from verses like these that when Jesus returns and "every eye shall see him", it will not be a secret.  Everyone will know.

The Apostle Paul wanted us to know what happens at Jesus Second Coming.  In 1st Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 5:1-4,  he gives us a list of things that will happen:

There are over 300 places in the New Testament alone that speak of Jesus Return, but even the Old Testament speaks of Jesus Return.  As an example, the Old Testament book of Jeremiah gives a description of what the Earth looks like after Jesus has come.

Jeremiah 4:20 "Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, [and] my curtains in a moment."

and just a little later in the same chapter:

4:23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, [it was] without form, and void; and the heavens, and they [had] no light.
4:24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
4:25 I beheld, and, lo, [there was] no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
4:26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place [was] a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, [and] by his fierce anger.
4:27 For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.

It can be seen from the above text that this refers, not to the time of Creation even though it talks about the earth being "without form and void", but to a time when "all the cities...are broken down" at the time of Jesus Return.  The "whole land" will be dark and empty. It goes on to say that there is "no man", but God is not done yet and so will "not make a full end" of sin yet. (See the "Jesus Second Coming Timeline" for more details of this wonderful event.)

Why isn't God done yet?  What is He waiting for?  (That can best be explained by looking at the "The Gospel Timeline" and the "The Trial of God Timeline" and taking a close look at what happens after Jesus returns to rescue His people.)
